Ways to Support

Tax Credit Scholarships to Benefit BCS

The State of Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship program is a great way to support the mission of Bethesda Christian School by enabling low to middle income families the opportunity to obtain a solid Christian education.

By making a Tax Credit Scholarship donation to BCS you can extend the mission of the school and receive a valuable tax credit and deduction as well. Bethesda Christian School has been able to award these types of  funds to families that would otherwise not be able to attend BCS.

Tax Credit Scholarships, also referred to as Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) scholarships, allow

individual and business donors to support BCS and to receive an Indiana state tax credit equal to 50% of the amount donated AND a Federal tax deduction for up to 50% of your donation. (Please consult a tax professional about your specific tax situation!)

SGO Donation $1000
State Tax Credit ($500)
Federal Tax Deduction based on 15% tax rate ($500 X 15%) ($75)
Net, out of pocket, cost of donation $425

Nine Simple Ways

Your support of our school helps to ensure quality education for the students under our care. These are some easy things you can do to benefit BCS without spending extra money of your own. Encourage your family, friends and neighbors to participate as well!

  1. PRAYER -- This is the absolute best way you can support BCS. Please pray daily for the teachers and students!
  2. Labels for Education -- This program is a way to add to our educational supplies and equipment in our classrooms. Each label you clip from participating products is worth points towards new supplies. Go to www.labelsforeducation.com for more information. Additionally as a bonus BCS can electronically collect 1 point for each participating Labels for Education product purchased using your shopper card at Kroger or participating retailers. You can still clip and redeem UPCs to earn the face value of the Labels for Education points. Register your shopper card at the above address under the Easier Way to Earn Points section on the home page.**
  3. General Mills Box Tops for Education -- This program earns money for BCS with each product label submitted. Look on General Mills product labels for the "Box Tops for Education" cut-out. Each is worth ten cents for BCS.**
  4. Target's Take Charge of Education -- This program is available to Target shoppers who have Target Visa, Target Credit Card, Target Check Card or Business Card accounts. If you designate BCS, Target will donate 1% of Target purchases and a half percent of all other Visa purchases to our school. Donations are distributed to BCS twice a year. Visit www.target.com/tcoe for more information.
  5. Upromise -- This program is a benefit to your child's current school and their future education. You can sign up for this free account and earn percentages of purchases for college savings while earning money for BCS at the same time. Simply link your Upromise account to the BCS Upromise Schools Program account. No earning will be taken away from your college savings account, but BCS still gets money from each purchase! See www.Upromise.com for more information.
  6. Recycle -- Simply bring your paper items and place them in the big yellow and green box in the parking lot located by the school.
  7. SCRIP -- Scrip is simply a word that means "substitute money", in other words, scrip is gift cards from national and local retailers.  They're the same gift cards that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Burger King, Arby's, The Gap, Lowe's, Speedway, Chili's, Walmart, and many, many others. Such retailers agree to sell gift cards to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the cards for full face value, and they redeem them for full face value. A percentage of each sale is credited to family tuition accounts. These percentages are listed next to their respective companies on the website. The revenue from the sale will be credited to family accounts two times per year, December and May. To get started purchasing Scrip cards go to www.shopwithscrip.com, click on the register button, click on join a scrip program, put in the enrollment code number 4CLCF14B7694, fill out the registration information, and submit. Once you have a family account, place your order and confirm it. Write a check payable to BCS Scrip in the amount of your order and drop it off at school before 8:30 a.m. on Mondays. Your order will be ready for pick up on Friday mornings at the school. If you have any questions contact Layna Goodin at bcs.scrip@yahoo.com.

*Most stores that offer shopper reward cards have paper enrollment copies at the store. You will need to complete it and ask the store to link your card number to the school. By doing this, you benefit and BCS does as well.
