School Choice & SEC Scholarship

Two options for families that are need-based are the Indiana School Choice Scholarship (commonly known as vouchers), and the Indiana Tax Credit SEC Scholarship. Please note that before any financial assistance is given, a family must apply and be accepted at BCS. Any balance not covered by tuition assistance is the responsibility of the family. SEC (Scholarships for Education Choice) Tax Credit Scholarships— Application Deadline:  September 1, 2016

Bethesda Christian Schools has a partnership with the Sagamore Institute; a state recognized Scholarship Granting Organization. Sagamore manages donations from businesses or individuals that give to the scholarship fund that helps many Indiana students attend an eligible private school. In addition to the donor giving to the SGO fund, they receive a 50% state tax credit for their donation. This scholarship value is $500 per student per academic year. Scholarships are limited to the amount of funds available in our account. 

To be eligible:

  1. Students must be a resident of the state of Indiana.
  2. Student must first apply and be accepted at Bethesda Christian Schools.
  3. Family must not exceed the 200% Federal Free and Reduced Income Guidelines.

To apply:

  1. Submit the online application to the Sagamore Institute. 
  2. Complete FACTS income verification application at FACTS, our third party tuition and assistance managing company, will charge a fee (currently $30) to complete this application. For an application to be considered, all required documents must be uploaded (this includes, but is not limited to tax forms and W2’s).
  3. Both steps must be completed on or before September 1, 2016.

          The financial aid office will notify you when the scholarship is applied to your account.

Indiana Choice Scholarship (Voucher)—Application Deadline:  September 1, 2016

Indiana Choice Scholarships were established in the 2011-2012 school year. This state funding, commonly called a “voucher” allows Hoosier families choose an accredited school for their child to attend. The voucher pays a portion of the child’s tuition; an amount dependent on family income, household size, location of residence, and other discounts the family may receive.

To be eligible:

  1. Student must first apply and be accepted at Bethesda Christian Schools.
  2. The application window runs from February 26, 2016, through September 1, 2016 for the 2016-2017 school year.
  3. Review the eligibility requirements.
  4. Review the income guidelines.
  5. Review the Parent FAQ’s.

To apply:

  1. Complete your taxes for 2015.
  2. Call to make an appointment to complete your Choice Scholarship application. Please bring in a copy of your 2015 tax forms. Other forms may be necessary depending on your situation. Please review those forms here. The application will be completed by you and the school via a password-protected website accessible only by school administrators.
  3. If a student is approved for a Choice Scholarship award, the school will provide the parent/guardian with a copy of the award letter at the time the student’s application is approved. This award letter will detail the estimated amount of the scholarship. Parents should save this letter for their records.
  4. All steps must be completed on or before September 1, 2016.
